Description:

This presentation is divided into two sections: the first section focuses on crisis management for peer support specialists and the second section focuses on collaboration and teamwork. Viewers will learn the role peers can play in crisis management, including applied examples of peer support within a mobile crisis response team. Viewers will also learn the importance of collaboration and teamwork in their profession, including peers’ role in Nebraska mandated reporting laws. The presentation includes applied examples of the importance of peer collaboration in a specialty court program.

Objectives:

About the Speaker

Brad Negrete

Brad Negrete has spent his career focused on the intersection of the criminal justice and psychology fields. Brad worked for the Collin County MHMR dba LifePath Systems for 11+ years in Texas and earned a Master’s degree in Counseling from Dallas Baptist University during that time. In 2015, Brad was promoted to Director of Crisis Services, serving as the face for law enforcement and crisis-related services as LifePath Systems became Collin County’s Behavioral Health Authority. He was honored to be named the Texas CIT Mental Health Professional of the Year. Now back in Omaha, Brad is an Assistant Vice President for Lutheran Family Services, creating several Crisis Co-Response programs, as well as working with the first mental health court in Nebraska. Brad serves on the Executive Committee for Heartland CIT, is a member of the Douglas County Stepping Up Initiative, assisted with the 988 Crisis Hotline Implementation Committee and serves on multiple Boards of Directors for non-profit agencies in Nebraska. Brad is an Adjunct Professor at his alma mater, the University of Nebraska-Omaha, teaching Mental Health in Criminal Justice.

Eve Jarboe

Eve Jarboe is the Clinical Supervisor at Lutheran Family Services, overseeing the daily operations of Mobile Crisis Response Programs with Behavioral Health Regions 3 and 6. Within these programs, Eve oversees numerous Behavioral Health professionals, including therapists, social workers, peer support specialists, and crisis coordinators. Eve has been with Lutheran Family Services for 14 years in Crisis Response and has been in a leadership role for 5 years. Through her collaborations with various community agencies, she has assisted in increasing the utilization of peers in Mobile Crisis Response and expanded their roles in the community. Eve is from Omaha, Nebraska, and has a BA in Fine Arts from UNO and an MA in Art Therapy from Marylhurst in Oregon.

Jamie Rich

Jamie Rich

Jamie Rich is the Clinical Supervisor for the Specialty Courts Program and Adult Behavioral Health Program in Fremont and Bellevue with Lutheran Family Services. She is a Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner and Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor with 20 years of experience in the behavioral health field. She has Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Masters in Community Agency Counseling from the University of South Dakota. Jamie and her team serve on the Sarpy County Treatment courts and Douglas County Veteran’s Court, providing evaluations, therapy, recovery support, and case management. They also provide behavioral health services for mental health and substance use needs for the state of Nebraska.
